OTHM Level 3 Technical Certificate in OHS

The OTHM Level 3 Technical Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety has been developed to enable learners to gain understanding of health and safety practices within working environments. The certificate provides insight into how to manage workplace health and safety issues and covers the areas typically encountered in entry-level health and safety roles. This UK-regulated qualification consists of 3 mandatory units for a combined total of 34 credits, 340 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 220 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). It is ideal for individuals new to health and safety, safety coordinators, and employees with basic health and safety responsibilities.

The certificate covers fundamental health and safety topics including health and safety systems and processes, hazard identification and risk assessment basics, workplace safety procedures and controls, health and safety legislation introduction, accident and incident reporting, workplace safety communication, and basic safety culture principles. The qualification is designed to be flexible in delivery to accommodate part-time and distance learning. Assessment is internally evaluated by the centre and externally verified by OTHM, based on achievement of all specified learning outcomes. The qualification recognizes practical understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Upon completion, individuals are eligible to apply for Associate (AIOSH) or Technical (Tech IOSH) membership. Learners can progress towards the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with appropriate experience, and then to the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management. The certificate qualifies graduates for entry-level safety coordinator and assistant roles. Progression to MSc programs is available through UK universities and partner institutions. The qualification is recognized globally and valued by employers across industries seeking foundational health and safety competence.
